The 5th ICC world cup was hosted by the Australia and New Zealand, and MCG, Melbourne, Australia was selected as the final match venue. The Pakistan and England reach the finals, and Pakistan won the toss elected to bat first. Pakistan openers failed to give a good start to their team, and Pakistan lost 2 wickets on just 24 runs.

But Imran Khan and Javed Miandad did a good 3rd wicket partnership of 139 runs. Imran Khan played a 72 not out innings on 159 balls, and Javed Miandad played a 58 runs innings on 125 balls. After the 3rd wicket Inzamam-ul-haq and Wasim Akram both have done a good contribution in the final match. Pakistan scored total 249 runs in 50 overs, and England needs 250 runs in 50 overs.
England failed to reach this target and the whole team will be all out on 227 runs in 49.2 overs. Only three English players scored 20+ runs, GA Gooch 29 runs on 93 balls, NH Fairbrother 62 runs on 97 balls, and AJ Lamb 31 runs on 54 balls.
